How to Recruit for
Quality and Fit
With these criteria in mind, what does a ‘good’
temporary candidate look like? The ideal
temporary worker will arrive on day one of the
assignment already in tune with your organisation’s
values, not just ticking the boxes on the job
description. They will also carry themselves with
the confidence of someone who understands your
way of working and approaches each task with
genuine curiosity and, when challenges arise,
they adapt without fuss, drawing on their
resilience and resourcefulness to keep things
moving forward rather than standing still.
They will also listen attentively and ask
questions when clarification is needed,
fostering smooth collaboration with permanent
staff and other temporary workers alike. Their
motivation will go beyond simply filling the
shift, but will make a relevant and meaningful
contribution, whether that means volunteering
for extra tasks, sharing fresh ideas, or simply
offering a friendly hand to a colleague in need.
Above all else, they will learn swiftly, master
new tools and processes at pace, and manage
procedures with minimal guidance, so that
productivity never stalls and their team can
rely on them as a seamless extension
of the workforce.
