While compliance, cost reduction
and clarity may be the greatest focus
now, underpinning this should be the
fourth ‘hidden C’: collaboration. The
complexity of the world of work today
means that workforce management
doesn’t just sit with one function.
Everyone has a role to play. HR will need to lead
the way in ensuring ethical labour practices and
supplier workforce standards are met. Procurement’s
responsibilities will largely sit with negotiating and
managing supplier relationships, while other leaders
will have to help set the tone and ensure information
is relayed to the right departments to secure
long-term supply chain resilience.
But all roles are intertwined, and while clear
responsibilities will need to be defined, improving
